Get Maalin

05:40 · Dawn

Your whole day, in one place.

Maalin reads what your phone, Apple Health and calendar already know, and takes quick logs for the rest. Then it shows you the one thing to do next, with the reason.

  • Less typing
  • Clear reasons
  • Encrypted on your phone

Maalin means "day" in Somali. Free at launch. No ads. Built for your language and region, starting with English and Somali.

Maalin's Today screen at 05:40: a morning brief for Yusuf with 6 h 20 min of sleep, readiness go easy, a busy day and the next step, Drink 500 ml.

06:40 · MorningMorning

Wake up to a four-line brief.

At your wake time, Maalin shows last night's sleep against your target, how ready you are, the shape of your day and the weather. One button starts your first action.

  • Readiness in plain words: go, go easy or rest. It comes from your sleep and heart data, or from how you say you feel.
  • If your watch or ring gives its own readiness, Maalin uses it. Your own "I feel drained" is never overruled.
  • No watch? A 10-second check-in asks how you slept.
  • After a night shift, the brief counts your daytime sleep.

How Maalin decides

Plain rules, with the reason shown.

Maalin's suggestions come from fixed rules that run on your phone and are tested on every change. Safety rules come first. AI only reads what you log and puts Maalin's numbers into short sentences.

  • Every suggestion says why. "Why this?" shows what it came from.
  • "Don't suggest this" and "Less at this time" change what comes next.
  • Safety rules always win. Before a hard workout, if you haven't eaten for 5 hours, Maalin suggests eating first.
  • Anything Maalin worked out from a photo or a sentence is shown to you before it's saved.
  • AI never makes up a number. Each one is checked against Maalin's own.

The rest of your day, planned around you.

Maalin builds your day plan from your day type, your calendar's busy time, the times you protect and your planned activities. You never have to build it. Before a match or a long run, it suggests food and water first.

  • Before 3 hours or more of busy time, a 15-minute "Get ready" block: eat, drink or move, whichever you need.
  • After 2 hours without moving, a 10-minute movement break in a free gap.
  • On a go-easy day with a hard activity later, a 20-minute nap after lunch.
  • When rain or heat is on the way, outdoor plans move to a better time. Maalin estimates heat from temperature and humidity, as sports medicine does.
  • Move any plan item to later today in two taps.

Less typing

Maalin already knows most of your day.

Sleep, steps and workouts come from Apple Health. Busy time comes from your calendar. The rest takes a tap, a photo or a sentence. Maalin learns your routine, so it asks less each week.

  • Your first day is already filled in. Maalin reads up to 90 days of your Apple Health history, on your phone.
  • Log shows 3 to 5 one-tap suggestions for now, each with its reason: "Your usual around 16:30".
  • Log by tap, photo, voice or typing. Voice works in English; in Somali, you type.
  • It learns your meal times, usual meals, places, prices, glass size and habit times. What you set always wins.
  • In your first week, Maalin asks at most one question a day.
  • Log water or a habit from a widget, Siri, Control Center or the Action button, without opening the app.
  • Setup needs no typing, apart from an email address if you sign in with email.

Works with what you use

Works with what you already use.

Maalin connects through your iPhone, with no extra accounts to link. Apple Health brings in your watch, ring, scale and food app. Your calendars, Apple Weather and your iPhone's own sensors do the rest.

  • "Check your device" shows, brand by brand, the one switch to turn on in your device's app.
  • Every reading keeps its source, and you choose which source wins.
  • Maalin saves your meals, water, measurements and check-ins to Apple Health too, if you allow it.
  • No watch? Your iPhone's own step count and bedtime schedule work too.

Questions

Questions people ask

Short answers. More on the Support page.

More answers on Support
What is Maalin?

An iPhone app for your whole day. It reads your sleep, movement and calendar, takes quick logs of meals, water, habits, prayer and spending, and shows you the one thing to do next, with the reason. You switch on only the parts you want.

Do I have to type everything?

No. Sleep, steps, workouts and heart data come from Apple Health, and busy time from your calendar. For the rest, Maalin suggests your usual items as one-tap logs, and it learns your routine so it asks less each week.

How does Maalin decide what to suggest?

With fixed rules that run on your phone and are tested on every change. They look at your plan, your targets and what you've done so far, and pick one next step. Safety rules come first, and every suggestion shows its reason.

Show 9 more
Does Maalin use AI?

Only to read a photo, a spoken sentence or typed words, and to put Maalin's numbers into short sentences. It runs on your iPhone, and you check anything it worked out before it's saved. You can turn it off.

Which devices and apps work with it?

Anything that shares with Apple Health: Apple Watch and many watches, rings, scales and food apps, such as Garmin, Oura, Whoop, Fitbit, Withings and MyFitnessPal. "Check your device" in the app shows what to switch on. No device? Your iPhone works on its own.

Which languages and regions does it support?

At launch, English and Somali, chosen inside the app. Arabic, Amharic, Swahili and French come after the first public release. Units, currencies, calendars, week start, weekend and prayer method all follow your region, and you can change each one.

How much does it cost?

At launch, everything is free, with no ads, ever. Some extra features may become part of a paid plan later. Logging, Today, the day plan, basic readiness, sync, restore and data export stay free for good.

When and where can I get it?

Maalin is coming first to iPhone, on iOS 27 and later, in every App Store country and region except mainland China. Android follows straight after the first iPhone release.

Who can read my data?

Only you. Your data is encrypted on your phone before it's synced, and we can't open it. Calendar details, voice and meal photos never leave your phone. More on our Privacy page.

Why do I need an account?

So a new or reset iPhone can get your data back. You sign in with Apple, Google or email, then create a passkey. Save your recovery kit too: if you lose every passkey and the kit, nobody can recover your data, Maalin included.

Is Maalin a medical app?

No. Maalin gives general wellbeing guidance, not medical advice. If your data shows warning signs, it suggests seeing a doctor.

Who is Maalin for?

Adults aged 18 and over who want a calmer, more planned day without becoming full-time trackers. Nothing about your work week, faith, food, devices or money is assumed.
